Apple Angel Food Cake

I love angel food cake — so simple, fluffy, and delicious!  When I found this 2-ingredient recipe on Pinterest, I just had to try it.  It’s ridiculously easy and the end product surpassed my expectations.

Apple Angel Food Cake
(adapted from The Frugal Girls’ recipe)

1 Angel Food Cake mix
1 Apple Cinnamon fruit pie filling

Preheat oven at 350.  Mix the cake mix and the fruit filling together.  Put batter in a tube pan and bake for 30 minutes or until it passes the toothpick test.

ImageMy two cents:
I was a little skeptical at first because of the easiness of it all.  It might have taken a little bit longer than 30 minutes because I put the batter in a tube pan rather than a 9 x 13 pan, as was instructed in the original recipe.  The recipe may have called for crushed pineapples but any fruit filling will do, which is why I chose apple cinnamon filling.  Make sure to invert the pan after taking it out of the oven because upon cooling, the cake will start sinking in.  After it’s cooled, it can be inverted back and taken out.  It’s a little sticky to cut into but the taste is phenomenal.  Worth giving a try!
